Update 5/7

Good Morning!
After walking the strawberry fields is glaringly obvious that peak strawberry season has ended. You will have to walk further and look under leaves to find the fruit. Without decent ripening weather earlier in the week the strawberry supply will be limited today and tomorrow. But the farm is always worth a visit! It looks like with the weather forecast and green berry supply that we will have a small burst of ripe fruit on Saturday morning. If looking to come out this week, Saturday morning will give you the best chance for the most fruit. The farm has been missing having flowers available to pick, but the sunflowers look ALMOST ready!! We will know more tomorrow, but it's looking like they might make an appearance just in time for Mother's Day! We will give you a better update and with more details on sunflowers tomorrow! Thanks for following along on our growing adventure where every day is a little different.

Update for 5/4/2025

What a beautiful day Saturday was! Like I predicted, berry supply dwindled by mid day and now we are left with very few berries for Sunday pickers. Sunday will be another excellent weather day to enjoy the farm animals, farm fun, and farm treats, just not a good day to pick fruit. Berries will be very hard to find Sunday. Not to worry, strawberry season isn't over yet with a great number of green berries in the field! We just need to wait on them to ripen up.
Can't wait to see you on the farm soon!

Update 5/3/25

What a beautiful morning we are having that is shaping up to be a beautiful spring day! .... in May? We are so thankful for anything below 90 during strawberry season to keep the berries going!
Berry picking will be good this morning, with supply dwindling by mid-day/early afternoon. We did not get any rain under the severe storm watch last night or the day before, so after this dew burns off the grounds will be 95% mud free! (Just keep an eye out because there is a 100% chance that your kiddo will find the 5% mud!)
All activities are open and we will be here with smiling faces and delicious ice cream and popsicles!
See you soon!

Update for 5/1

Finally, some red graces the field again! We will have good picking for our Thursday customers!
3 Tips for y'all...
1.Look inside the strawberry plant for the best fruit!
2.Don't wear new and/or white shoes to the farm.
3. Make sure your shoes are closed toe.
No rain here Wednesday so Thursdays grounds will be great!
I'll post again this evening to give you some insight into Friday/weekend picking. See you at the farm soon!

Update for 4/28/25 & 4/29/25

It's true. We are in the lull of waiting for green fruit to ripen. Strawberry season is not over, our pickers are just picking faster than the plants can ripen up green fruit! Picking will be extremely limited for Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully the lack of weekend picking pressure will give the berries much needed time. Picking should be decent again by Thursday (farm is always closed Wednesdays).
Did you know that it takes a green berry 3 - 5 days to ripen?
The paint-a-pot activity is a great way to stay in the shade and take the time to plant a seed! Do you remember the last time you planted a seed?
Can't wait to have you out to enjoy the weather, the ice cream, and the farm activities. Let's hurry up and wait on that fruit to ripen.

Update for Sunday 4/27 Picking

Strawberries will be hard to find Sunday. We had a lot of red leave the field Saturday with not much time for green fruit to ripen in time for Sunday's pickers. If you are visiting Sunday it will be essential to look under the leaf canopy to find the ripe fruit underneath. This is the way of professional strawberry pickers. Kid's are especially good at this, too, so it's hard to tell if professionals are kids or kids are professionals.
We have super fun activities to do at the farm! One of the funniest videos you will take in a long time is a video of your child on the goat racer! Trust me, if you bring out a kid, you have to get a ticket to that activity!
Goats have 4 stomachs so they are always hungry and the goat food is cheap. We have a miniature brahma bull in our pen who likes pets, yes, that is how he looks. He isn't a donkey with a tumor.
LAST CALL FOR STRAWBERRY LEMONADE! If visiting Sunday be sure to get one of the last cups of our famous homemade strawberry lemonade of the year!

Hope to see you soon!

Friday afternoon 4/25

April is rolling right along isn't it?    Here is the skinny for the weekend: Smiling faces, last Spring weekend for Concessions (Strawberry Lemonade), lots of fun activities, spaces to run, cold Ice Cream, hungry animals and just a few Strawberries.  The Strawberry picking will be slow and require effort.  Look under the leaves of the plants to find the ones the 'walkers' missed (folks that just walk down the row, only bending over when they see one from above).  Morning arrivals are preferred as the picking will get harder as the day goes on.  The Flower field is finished until Sunflowers get here in Mid May.
Long term Strawberries:  we actually have a good many strong white blooms that could develop into Mid May berries IF the weather doesn't get too hot.  I believe we will have a week or two of slim pickings and then maybe a little boost just about the time Sunflowers get here.  Time will tell.
We still have a few muddy spots, of course they would be where the Strawberries are, but the parking lot, green belts and all the main areas are nice and dry.  The weather forecast looks outstanding the next few days.  It will be a wonderful outing and a little less expensive without boxes of berries to purchase.  Hope to see you soon!

Thursday evening 4/24

A wonderful 3/4 inch of rain yesterday made a little bit muddy Strawberry picking today..  A light rain is falling here as we speak.  It looks like a few pop up showers are on the radar with no real organization in our area.  The only muddy spots currently are between the Strawberry rows in the low spots.  The green belts, parking lot and walking areas are all in good shape.  Old shoes or rubber boots would be best if coming tomorrow.
Regarding Strawberries: it is a treasure hunt.  Once set of folks will say they didn't find a thing when a person or two behind them comes up with a full box.  300 pounds were picked today and I imagine that we will have almost that amount tomorrow but ...... it is going to be a hunt and you might have to get in the mud to get them.   The past two weeks have been mild weather and we are seeing some strong nice Strawberry blooms.  Will they set? will we have Strawberries in Mid May? - time will tell but it looks promising
The Flower field is finished  ....... for now.  Sunflowers are growing well and the hope is to be picking them by May 11 - 15.  The field looks wonderful and we are exited about their possibility.
The  activities are going well, goats are hungry (3 newborns today) and people seem to be having a good time.  The Farm is open rain or shine - Hope to see you soon!
