3/24/2025 0 Comments Monday evening 3/24Today was great picking across the road and tomorrow will be even better! Again, pick on the LEFT side of the road tomorrow. The fields at the main farm are recovering and will be nice Thursday.
Flowers are doing great as well as everything else here. The only thing we are missing is you, come see us. The picture below is one row of about 100 that look like this. Taken this afternoon. Those berries almost ripe will be ripe tomorrow. 3/24/2025 2 Comments Monday morning 3/24Missed us by that much ....... not a drop here on the farm last night. I watched the radar as the rain would dissipate just before it reached us. I see some of you got a pretty good shower - good for you. Our time is coming, maybe Thursday.
Strawberries, Flowers, Ice Cream and fun activities will be fantastic today. Since most of the kiddos are back in school, we expect a slow relaxing day. Hope to see you soon. 3/23/2025 1 Comment Sunday evening March 23Yessssss! While todays picking wasn't too good ....... the fields are turning the corner and I expect the ripe berry supply to be stellar every day this coming week (closed Wednesday). At 3pm this afternoon I opened the field on the left side of the road. A good many people picked berries there that were mostly ripe. By tomorrow they should be outstanding.
So tomorrow, FOR STRAWBERRIES, turn left at the white house where it says Field Trips and proceed to the Field Trip parking where the field is. This field is on the opposite side of the road as the main farm. We plan to pick in Block E (the one across the road) tomorrow, Tuesday and Friday. This should take some of the pressure off the main fields allowing them to recover nicely for next Saturday and Sunday. You have no idea how happy it makes us to say "You bet! There is lots of berries to pick" The main farm will still be open with AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL PLENTIFUL FLOWERS, Ice Cream, Goats and Fun Activities. There will be some Strawberries at the main farm fields but nothing compared to the other side. 3/22/2025 1 Comment Saturday evening March 22And another beautiful day although it was a little windy in the afternoon. A lighter wind and 87 is in the forecast for tomorrow which will be nice. The folks that come here are amazing, I saw so many smiling happy faces today.
The Farm opens at 1pm on Spring Sundays. Tomorrows crop forecast is almost the same as the last post. Concerning Strawberries: Opening at 1pm tomorrow will be good to give a few more berries time to ripen but even so, ripe Strawberries will be in very short supply. Come tomorrow to have some outdoor fun, wait a week to load up on Strawberries. I still believe this coming Thursday morning will be the beginning of a lot of berries to pick. Hope to see you soon!!! 3/21/2025 0 Comments Friday night March 21Sorry for the late update - you know everything breaks at the same time :).
The Ranunculus flower field looks great. There are lots of colors and flowers to choose from. The Farm activities are doing great and kiddos are having a ton of fun. The concession stand is open tomorrow and Sunday with vittles and freshly made Strawberry lemonade. The Homemade ice cream is delicious, and popsicles too! We will be here with smiling happy faces. There is a reason the Strawberries are last ----- the picking is not going to be too good. The first customers of the day will find some. If it is a normal weekend, the picking will become harder by mid morning and afternoon will be tough. We are going to give one box per family to start with. Fill that box first and come get another if you would like. Strawberry production is picking up and with next week not being Spring Break - I expect the fields to turn red again by next Thursday and we will be out of this "picked out' business. Come tomorrow to have fun, come next week to load up on berries. Hope to see you soon! 3/20/2025 3 Comments Thursday evening March 20, 2025Happy first day of Spring .... and it was a glorious day. The wind finally laid down a bit and the temperatures were wonderful with highs in the upper 70s. Tomorrow should be another beautiful day but the wind will be picking up a bit.
Strawberries - We plan to open the left side of the road for about two hours tomorrow morning The picking will be great at first and then dwindle as the number of pickers grow. We will also be picking in the fields at the main farm but those fields are not as loaded. If you have kiddos and don't want to drive from side to side, just come to the main farm and pick there. If you are determined to pick Strawberries, come early and go to the field on the left side of the road but remember, we will be closing that field down by mid morning when I think it is picked over so the earlier the better. Starting Thursday of next week, I expect to be covered up with ripe berries If Strawberries are the goal and you can't make it tomorrow morning then come the weekend after this one. Flowers - LOTS. the field looks great and we are super happy to be offering them. The Tulips are finished, the flowers we have now are Ranunculus and are beautiful. Everything else on the farm is going great and folks are having a lot of fun. I will update again tomorrow night concerning the weekend. Hope to see you soon.. 3/17/2025 2 Comments Monday evening March 17 In the heat of the summer I will be begging for a small breeze but as of now- I would like to have a little break from the wind! Tomorrow is going to be arm and windy with highs in the mid 80s.
I believe we will actually have some berries to pick tomorrow morning along with lots of flowers, activities and fun to be had. The Farm is closed on Wednesday which will give a little time for more berries to ripen so Thursday morning will be the next best picking of the week. It will not be stellar picking or even good picking but it will be some picking which is better than the last few days. If you want to make a farm visit this week for Strawberries - Tuesday and Thursday morning are your best shot so far. There are loads of green berries about to ripen - we will keep you updated Thursday concerning Friday and the weekend. The concession stand will be open Thursday through Sunday with a few edibles and our delicious homemade Strawberry lemonade. This picture was taken this afternoon. the Berry with a tinge of red will be ready Thursdayish, and the others are a couple of days behind. The Berries are coming, get ready! 3/15/2025 0 Comments Saturday evening March 15The cooler temperatures today were fantastic but the howling gusty wind was not. Tomorrow (open at 1pm Sundays) has a much better forecast with calm winds increasing to 5 mph and a high of 78. That will be nice!
The Ranunculus field was a bright spot today and it looks like we have plenty of blooms for tomorrows picking too. We saw some beautiful bouquets today. The Tulips are pretty well done - wind, heat, and a non tulip farmer make a bad combination. They were kinda fun when they were here. Folks will still be able to go through the field and find a few. Still no ripe Strawberries to be had. A saw a few people find a box of good berries but that was the exception. Lots of green ones are on the way but they are not here yet. My daughter will have the concession stand open tomorrow offering the other daughters amazing Strawberry lemonade and a few edible items. The Activities are fun and the animals are loving the attention. 3/14/2025 0 Comments Friday evening March 14We are excited that the high temps are supposed to come down into the 70's tomorrow which might feel a bit chilly with a gusty west wind. We will be here with smiling faces, fresh Homemade Ice Cream and Popsicles, fun activities and hungry goats.
Unfortunately this weekends crop forecast is pretty bleak. There are little to no ripe berries to pick, hardly any Tulips and Ranunculus are just getting started. Of course folks will be able to browse the fields but in all honesty, there is not much to pick. It looks like it will be at least a week or two before the fields turn red with Strawberries again. It is important to note that we are still on track for a great season and in some years gone by we haven't even started picking yet. The Ranunculus flower field is in great shape. They are starting to bloom now and will really get going in a week or so. Farming is fun, this is just a little blip and soon we will be rolling again. |
