4/12/2025 2 Comments Saturday afternoon 4/12Wow! what a great day! Thanks!
Please remember, 1pm to 5pm on Sundays in the Spring. It was pretty warm this afternoon so be ready for the heat if coming tomorrow. Tomorrow Concessions will be open with fresh Strawberry Lemonade and goodies to eat, the activities will be running full steam, the freshly made Ice Cream is cold, there are flowers to pick but I do not expect to have many ripe Strawberries in the fields. Todays crowd worked the fields over pretty good, we started out with berries but by 2pm it was getting tough picking. Normally we can ripen up 100 or 200 pounds overnight but I think that would be a stretch for tomorrow because we picked them too hard today. Of course we will be here with smiling faces and the kiddos can still have a great time. The animals always like the lovin' and will be happy to see you!

4/11/2025 0 Comments Friday afternoon 4/11 Boy o Boy, the weather in the mornings has been wonderful. Afternoons too but with full sunshine it feels a little warm. The Farm is beginning to get a little dry again, certainly no reason to worry about mud except in the place the irrigation leaked. We decided when we started the farm we would not attempt it without water. God blessed us with several irrigation wells - Thank You! As a result our green belts are green and the Farm grounds look pretty good. The Pecan Trees in the picnic area are starting to leaf out. Come sit at one of the fifty two tables and relax a bit, take the edge off, unwind, slowdown, enjoy nature and listen to the goats,
The Strawberry picking is going to be light tomorrow. Picking earlier in the day will be easier than later. We are going to start the day picking on both sides of the road. Since we stayed off of the Field Trip Side (left) today we might have a few more berries there in the morning. As soon as the Field Trip field gets picked we will close that gate. But if you want to just make one stop, come on to the main farm entrance. The Flower field is still producing beautiful Ranunculus but it is definitely on the way out. Children sure have been having fun with all the activities. Each activity is individually priced. We suggest walking around the farm first and then grab a ticket if you decide to do something. Concessions will be open again this weekend with Strawberry Lemonade and a few things to eat. Hope to see you soon! 4/11/2025 0 Comments Friday morning 4/11Good Morning! It looks like another wonderful day. Afternoons are starting to get a little warm though, The Farm is nice and dry. Comfortable clothes would be fine over the next few days.
I believe everyone coming today will get all the Strawberries they want, but I am a little concerned about tomorrow. It is very hard to predict availability, I think we are getting into a pattern of ripe berries to pick every morning. I don't see any flush of berries coming. Flowers are still hanging on! The field has definitely peaked, There are still beautiful flowers to pick but sooner is better than later to get flowers. Hope to see you soon. 4/10/2025 0 Comments Thursday morning 4/10Good Morning! The sun is out in brilliant form and the birds are singing, it is going to be a wonderful day..
Strawberries: picking on both sides of the road again today - I recommend the Left (Field Trip) side of the road. There might be a few more Berries available on the Field Trip side and the beds are a little taller (the soil there is more conducive to a better shaped bed). But if you are coming for flowers and berries just come on in to the main farm for one stop shopping. Hope to see you soon! 4/7/2025 0 Comments Monday evening 4/7 The picking was not quite as good as I expected today. Everyone found plenty of berries but I thought it would be a little easier to get them. Tomorrow should be the same. Ripe Berry supply is better in the Field Trip Field (left side of the road) or you can stay on the main farm side - your choice. The Flowers are still beautiful but are definitely on the down side of the bell curve. I hope we can get them to Easter but it will be close.
The weather is spectacular (we had a light freeze this morning! I can't find any damage though). it is absolutely wonderful. We have some pregnant goats in the pen that should drop any day now. Most folks enjoy watching a birth but be prepared to do some explaining to your children. I once heard a teenage boy say "that's gross" to which his mom laughingly replied "hmmm, someday you are going to experience that first hand". 4/6/2025 0 Comments Sunday evening 4/6Spring is just marching right along. Today was another great day filled with a lot of wonderful ...... bundled up ..... people. It was a bit chilly and just now the Sun has come out and warmed us up. Is it going to freeze tonight? We are forecast for 33, the skies are clearing meaning we are going to lose our blanket, the wind is supposed to drop - the dew point is currently 39 - the temperature will not go below the dew point, if it starts to drop then it will get colder faster. hmmmmmm - we put out a few covers :).
I expect good Strawberry picking all this coming week. Tomorrow we will be picking on both sides of the road. The Field Trip (left) side might have a little more to choose from tomorrow The Flower field is still doing great but it has definitely peaked. Sooner is better than later for flower picking. We should go through this week ok but not to sure about beyond that. The temperature forecast for this coming week is spectacular, finally a little early spring like weather. Now is a great time to come. Hope to see you soon! 4/5/2025 0 Comments Saturday evening 4/5It was a good day!! believe it or not it was a little cold and after breaking a sweat yesterday. Tomorrow is going to be another cool one so bring a jacket.
The Farm is drying out as we speak. Tomorrow should even be drier but expect some slick spots. Wear those old shoes of yours or the designer rubber boots you never get to use. The only place to find slick muddy spots will be between some of the Strawberry and flower rows, every where else is easily passable. We will be picking Strawberries at the main farm tomorrow. There are plenty of ripe berries for everyone to pick. All the activities are running and the Concessions will be selling freshly made Strawberry Lemonade and a few things to eat (I was told not to say "the will have edibles" anymore - oh how times have changed). Hope to see you soon. 4/5/2025 0 Comments Saturday morning 4/5 That was a nice little rain - only a third of inch here. I don't see any heading our way on the radar and our forecast calls for clearing skies this afternoon. Currently we have very little standing water which I think will be gone in an hour or two. I think today is going to turn out to be a stellar day.
There are lots of Strawberries to pick. The Field Trip side (the left side of the road) is a little bit better drained so we are going to pick Strawberries on both sides of the road. Two of the fields at the main farm have grassy middles and will be easy to pick in mud free. The Flower field might be a little slick here at first. A high of 65 today with a brisk wind is going to be very nice although folks might want a small jacket. Hope to see you soon! 4/4/2025 0 Comments Friday evening 4/4 Today turned out to be a beautiful day. The temperatures dropped mid afternoon and made everyone say "I wish it would stay like this for a week".
Not a drop of rain so far today. We still have a good chance tonight and first thing in the morning. The Farm will be open rain or shine. We might close the Berry Bounce and Train during a shower but otherwise, all will be running - even Concessions. Ripe Strawberry supply is very good. There will be plenty of berries for tomorrow and probably Sunday too. Berry production has been all over the place this year but it looks like, weather permitting, all next week should be exceptional picking. The Ranunculus flower field is gorgeous. It seems to me that maybe the field has peaked. Of course we will pick every last one but I wonder if we can make it to Easter with them. Expect an update in the morning by 9am concerning field conditions. Hope to see you soon! |
